Ithaca is books (and stories)

Congratulations to our friends at Buffalo Street Books, Odyssey Bookstore, Autumn Leaves Used Books, Tompkins County Public Library, and PM Press for a highly successful Ithaca is Books festival! The weekend (August 10–13) featured readings, workshops, demonstrations, games, and a book fair. It was the third year of the festival, but it was the first time we were involved in organizing it, and it was much more ambitious than the two before it. Kudos especially to Lisa Swayze, general manager of Buffalo Street Books, who (as usual) took charge.

We were delighted with the two events we hosted, an excellent discussion with Ukrainian novelist Andrey Kurkov about the power and limitations of literature (video is here) followed by an afternoon edition of our open-mic Story Night hosted by the fabulous Jennifer Savran Kelly (pictured above) at Liquid State Brewing Company. We look forward to doing it again next year!
