How do media that embody inequality and the concentration of wealth and power tell the stories of ordinary people? How can media ​organizations with a structural compulsion to lie deliver truth? Are there other paths to telling the stories that media monopolies cannot and will not take?


In this talk and discussion co-hosted by The Soil Factory, Story House Ithaca, and Cornell's South Asia Program, world-renowned journalist P. Sainath speaks about his work with the People’s Archive of Rural India and his path-breaking reporting on India’s  agrarian crisis and hundreds of thousands of farmer suicides.


P. Sainath is a journalist and teacher who focuses on social and economic inequality, deprivation, and poverty, particularly in rural India. He has received more than 60 national and global awards for journalism. His first book, Everybody Loves a Good Drought, is in its 61st printing.
